Lots of people have us wrong...
Because we make every effort to make Hillsboro House a home rather than an institution, people may not realize that we're also a fully licensed nursing facility.
Hillsboro House offers a full range of care, from residential care for those who are semi-independent to Medicare paid rehabilitative care for those who have been recently hospitalized.
Levels of Care
Anyone who has faced the daunting task of finding a nursing home or rehab care provider has encountered the confusion of the myriad levels of care: skilled care, intermediate care, NF's, ICF's, CCRC's, transitional care, dementia care, and many others.
We believe sorting people into levels of care, the way large nursing homes do, just doesn't work.
Hillsboro House accommodates 33 residents. So, when families ask us, 'How many levels of care do you offer?', the honest answer is 33.
Our Activities
Sometimes nursing homes like to brag about their arts and crafts programs.
Hillsboro House residents don't have much time for arts and crafts. Here, we're committed to helping each resident to live the same kind of life he or she lived at home.
That means going shopping or out to eat or simply out for a morning walk. We go apple picking, to baseball games and to see musicals. You'll often see our residents and staff out and about, doing the same things and going the same places as everyone else.
We Fit Right In
We're located on School Street in Hillsboro, just a short walk from the center of town. Our nursing facility stretches back from the street, but because we've kept the original Victorian residence, Hillsboro House fits right in with the other homes.
Most nursing homes are large and impersonal places, isolated from the families they serve. But at Hillsboro House, our residents have participated in the community for decades, and our location allows them to continue that participation.
